Microsoft Project Web Access (PWA)
Microsoft Project Server Web Access (PWA)
Q/A

Microsoft Project Web Access (PWA) is a web site provided to your organization to access and update information stored in the Project Server database. The Project Server database holds information from Microsoft Project Professional plans – including plans, tasks, deliverables, resource data, status, cost information, documents, risks and issues. Access to specific information is controlled by user level permissions.

The PWA website must be customized to your organization to display the right information to the right persons or organizational units at the right time and with the correct level of access and security. The PWA website must also be customized to enable and control write access to including the update of project plans by individual and group resources assigned to complete specific tasks.

The Microsoft Project Web Access web site has multiple pages. Each PWA page provides the user with information on single and multiple projects. Access to and configuration of this information is controlled by the Project Server Administrator.
User Defined Settings: The user has settings and preferences they can set – such as notifications; the project manager has settings and preferences they can set – such as task update signoff authorization; managers can control the report preferences; while resource managers can subscribe to changes in resource assignment.

Administrator Settings: Project Server pulls features from a variety of Microsoft Server products. The Project Server Administrator must have a detailed understanding of Project Server’s capabilities and the needs of your project management organization. They must also understand the relationship between the various components of the EPM suite that are deployed in your organization and how that affects your staff’s Project Web Access experience.
